What this website collects

The contact form
When you send a message we receive your name, email address, organization, role, the topic you chose, your phone number if you gave one, and your message. We use them only to reply to you and to follow up on what you asked about.
- Messages are stored in a database operated for LaneWarden on Amazon Web Services in the United States, and are deleted automatically two years after they arrive.
- A copy is emailed to our team so we can answer it.
- We do not sell your details or add you to a mailing list, and we do not share them for marketing.
Protection against spam
To limit automated messages, we count how many messages arrive from one connection in an hour. The count is keyed to a one-way hash of your IP address made with a secret value, so the address itself is not stored, and the count expires after two hours. Each stored message keeps the same hash and your browser’s user-agent string for the same purpose.
Visiting the site
The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Fonts and images are served from this site, not from third parties. Our hosting provider processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, under its own terms. Operational logs of the contact service keep no message content and are deleted after a month.
The live demo
The demo runs entirely in your browser on simulated data. Nothing you do in it, including acknowledging alerts, posting messages or downloading the feed, is sent to us.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it before the two years are up. Use the contact form and choose “Something else”. We will answer within 30 days.
Changes
If what we collect changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
