LaneWarden Entry Alert

Warning for trucks entering the highway
Corridor backbone

Overview

A radar on the haul road or access watches for trucks about to enter the highway. When one approaches, beacons on a TRUCKS ENTERING WHEN FLASHING sign 500 ft upstream flash for 30 to 45 seconds.

Loaded trucks pulling onto a highway accelerate slowly. Entry Alert tells mainline drivers exactly when that is happening, instead of a sign that is always on and soon ignored.

What it does

Entry Alert at work

1

Radar trigger

A radar on the access road detects a vehicle heading for the highway.

2

Beacons only when needed

Two solar LED beacons flash on the mainline sign for 30 to 45 seconds per detection.

3

Logged

Every activation is logged in Command and published in the WZDx feed.

See the beacons flash for a truck leaving the haul road, with the same rules the system runs.
